Hamster Kombat announced it had banned 2.3 million users for cheating. This large-scale ban comes just before the HMSTR token airdrop, a highly anticipated event for the game’s community.
The company detected cheating tactics like linking over 400 accounts to a single Binance wallet and creating fake referrals. Cheaters had 6.8 billion HMSTR tokens confiscated, half of which will be burned, and the rest redistributed among rule-abiding players.
Only 131 million out of 300 million users are now eligible for the airdrop. Players will initially receive 60 billion tokens, with the remaining 15 billion for future release. However, controversy arose due to sudden last-minute anti-cheat rules, causing widespread disqualification.
Community members and influencers have criticized Hamster Kombat, claiming unfair eligibility changes and token allocation favoritism towards influencers. Previous issues included postponed airdrop dates and community backlash following Binance listing.
