The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced the establishment of a new crypto task force under the leadership of Commissioner Hester Peirce, also known as "Crypto Mom." This initiative marks a significant shift from the SEC's previous enforcement-heavy approach.
The task force aims to develop a clear regulatory framework and practical registration processes for crypto assets. It will work in coordination with other agencies, including the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC), and offer technical assistance to Congress.
The SEC has acknowledged that its past regulatory strategy was "retroactive" and is now focused on proactive measures to support the growing crypto industry.
