Yat Siu Talks Blockchain Gaming and Digital Identity 🏢

Yat Siu, co-founder of Animoca Brands, shared his insights on the evolving landscape of Web3, drawing from his extensive tech innovation experience. He discussed the differences between Eastern and Western attitudes towards blockchain and offered advice for aspiring artists in the age of AI.

Siu's vision for blockchain's future included the Mocaverse project, aimed at solving digital identity issues. He highlighted the importance of institutional support for blockchain projects, pointing to examples like Bitcoin ETFs and MOCA.

As an advisor to the Hong Kong Government’s Web3 Task Force, Siu explained the nuanced role of Hong Kong in the global blockchain scene. He clarified that while China supports blockchain technology, it doesn't necessarily extend to trading cryptocurrencies.

Siu also addressed the difference in attitudes towards GameFi and capitalism between East and West. He noted that Asia's pro-capitalist mindset makes it more receptive to DeFi and GameFi compared to the West.

He emphasized the importance of owning intellectual property for content creators, especially with the advent of AI and blockchain. He criticized platforms like YouTube and TikTok for not allowing creators to own their content.

Lastly, Siu expressed excitement about the growth in the crypto industry, particularly in projects like TON and Mocaverse, which aim to bring more users into Web3 and solve digital identity issues.
