Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin is among the prominent figures condemning the severity of the potential sentencing. Buterin labeled the charges as absurd, drawing parallels between Ver's case and that of Ross Ulbricht, the Silk Road founder who received a life sentence.

Buterin suggested that many have received lighter penalties for more severe crimes, highlighting what he perceives as a disproportionate punishment for Ver.
